Looking forward to seeing some of the actual stats on this unit. Oh, and the cost too. Something for future consideration a few years down the road. I have lots of time though, as my F-150 is only 5 years old and going strong, and 2/3's of the kilometres on it are towing, where it works great.

So true Jim but atm it’s looks promising. The big issue is what is going to be the cost and like you say my truck is only 3 yrs old and about to be paid off. Will I really want to have another payment just for some extra fancy features

Our 2019 Ram has only 12,000 miles on the odometer but the 2021 Ford F150 has me thinking
For us any major traveling is probably a good year off and by then our truck will be pushing 15000 miles

I'm going to run my 2002 F250 7.3 diesel until it has square wheels. 351000 and never any problems with engine.

Lots of after market stuff on it tho.

The 2021 Ford F-150 is slated to arrive this fall along with the PowerBoost hybrid model, and the electric F-150 will be available within the next two years. There are six trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. Pricing is expected to start at around $30,000 for the XL model and reach upward of $70,000 for the Limited model.

Let's see: 47 HP electric w/ the 3.5L ecoboost - should be greaaat tow mpg; I noticed extended mirrors at about 4:50 into the video; power enough to power my Escape when plugged in to the rear corner of the pickup bed; concealed storage all over; features that I want to try enough that I want to find some land just so I can build my next home (even though I could full-time w/this truck and my Escape.
I think it's my next tow veh. (if I can afford it!!)

I take perfect care of it. When service is due, it gets it. I have all service records. Sometime I'm going to go thru them and add up what the service over the years has cost me.

Gonna be scary. The 30K service runs about $600 alone.

I've replaced a number of parts but the engine itself has not cost me a nickel.

Added a ton of after market Banks Power stuff.

Just before it stopped being available I was able to get a lifetime unlimited mileage extended warranty when we bought our 2019 Ram, so no matter what bells and whistles come out in future years this will likely be the last truck I buy. I say that because I'm still also driving my faithful 1998 Ram with 230K.

Of course, you never know when somebody will run a red light and total your vehicle so I like to stay somewhat in touch with all the current offerings...

I had a 2009 Ram purchased during the TARP period and it had a lifetime warranty. In 2014 you had to take it in for 5 year inspection to keep the warranty. I needed a tune up $800 and new tires $800 and anti freeze $150. Otherwise everything was ok. I asked about the shiny black Ram on the floor, no tune up for 100k, no antifreeze change for 100k and new tires. They said they would give me what I paid for the Ram, $34,000. So to save $1750 I spent $10,000 for the 2014 Ram Sport and my old truck trade in. Smart move, NOT!

As I indicated on the earlier threads, I am quite interested in the 2021 F150 with the hybrid engine - and its Pro Power Onboard feature. I had been planning to buy a SuperCab with the PowerBoost hybrid engine and 6.5 ft bed to pull E5.0. However, I learned that the hybrid engine is only available in the SuperCrew (4-door) configuration, and I will need to abandon my preference for SuperCab if I want it.

The standard bed length in SuperCrew configuration is 5.5’ but it is available in 6.5’ bed as well. I have been following the thread on 5.5’ bed being adequate and acceptable for pulling a E5.0 but wondering if it is a better and more advisable to go with 6.5’ bed in context of a new purchase.

A second question: There are two tow packages - Trailer Tow and Max Trailer Tow. I remember a discussion (but am unable to relocate) which suggested that Trailer Tow is sufficient for smaller trailers such as E5.0 and max trailer tow would impact the fuel efficiency negatively. Any feedback on this choice would be welcome.

Your advice is appreciated.
PS: Given my planned timeframe, I will wait for about 6 months before placing an order.

The new F150 pulling the new 23’ looks like a nice setup.

Plus the timing for both seems similar.
Plus the border should be opened by then.
Plus Covid 19 should be under better control.


For about a hundred grand we could travel in style.

The Hybrid looked like a good idea until you noted that it is only available with the Super Crew. My Super Cab is already too long for many parking spaces - I have no interest in adding another foot & a half. I do like the Pro Power option...

Went back & forth on HD Tow and finally decided to get it. Very glad I did and the mileage difference is almost nil between 3.73 & 3.31 rear end. Also it comes with Limited Slip differential which has already saved me once from getting stuck with my 4 X 2.
