5.0 landing gear ?
After bringing home my 50 I saw stickers on the landing gear pads that say remove plate before towing. Oops, didn't do that.
Now I have only towed it 28 miles so don't have a clue, but it seems like you have plenty of clearance. Do you remove the pads when you tow??

Hi: Chotch... Never have if you mean the round pads at the foot... they have to stay, but up as far as they go. Alf

I agree with Alf, leave them in place but fully retracted.

When Dennis helped me hookup Ten Forward the first time in Sumas, he cautioned me to NOT fully retract the landing gear. I should have taken a photo, but I only retract to about 1 to 2 inches from the collar around the pad.

Up, down, up
Hi Donna
Although I don't own a TA, I do know that anytime we had equipment with extend and retract
Capabilities we would fully retract the mechanism and then go "a couple turns" the other way and leave it at that. This allowed a better chance of breaking free, a dry or rusted gear set, at a later date. Often you could go tighter and then break over the stuck spot with a little run at it. Taking the tension off in storage is rarely a bad thing. Gives a new meaning to "rock and roll"

When you top out the legs it sounds like the gears slip, doesn't take a genius to figure out you shouldn't go the whole way. Like Donna, I leave them an inch or 2 out from the collar. No way am I removing the pads.

Thank you folks.
It looked like a pain and not really necessary taking pads off and having to store every time you move. Seems like if you hit the retracted pad while in transit you've already wrecked a bunch of stuff.

When we picked ours up last month, Reese told both my wife and I individually to not retract the legs all the way up and to leave about 2 inches to spare. Drilled in again at departure.

That is good to know. Next time it will be almost fully retracted!
