Albeit minor, the lift option will also require an additional 2" of leveling blocks at the corners. We carry a couple boards and 2 bags of lynx levelers (20 total). We usually need about 12-14 blocks minimum per campsite in addition to the boards.

Tammy asked us to finalize the major portions of our 5.0 by today. Thanks to the pictures/diagrams Chotch sent us, and after placing Terry's trike in the back bed, we realized we need the lift kit (rear wheel and seat will be stored in the camper, or bed of the pickup). My trike will live on our trike rack on the back of the 5.0. Our lives consist of camping, hiking, triking, and mushroom picking. The trikes are important to us.

Thanks everyone for their input!

Perry

My 2013 F150 4X4 is 54" and it was no problem and Yes I like it. That little extra clearance helps all the time. How do you use even a folding topper with a 5.0?

My Fold-a-Cover is four sections that fold up and lay on the front section, well ahead of the hitch. I imagine others do the same. I have a 6.5' box, but works for those with 5.5' boxes too.

Wrong wording. The hard shell topper will have to be removed and our Access Roll-Up Tonneau Cover will be re-installed.

We can partially cover the front of the box when the 5.0 is hooked up, and can use it completely when the camper is left at the campground. When in the campground both our trikes will fit in the bed of the pickup for better security.

Enjoy,

Perry

Wow.........the lift kit does affect my level (it's higher), but the jacks and front posts easily adjust for the difference on my 5.0TA.

Lift Kit

I have a 2016 F150xlt and have the lift kit on my 2017 5.0. Just got back from 3 months in Alaska riding the ferries between islands. Got on and off the ferries many times at low tide when the ramp is way down. The clearance was great. Even the load crew was surprised at the clearance I had. Also drove on many poor roads in Alaska with the high clearance and had no problems. If in doubt do it. You never know when the clearance will come in handy. I also use blocks for the front and rear jacks as the high clearance does require them in most cases.

FYI - I have a Ram 3500 4x4 and a folding tonneau cover that sits on the rails. This results in 57.5". Reace says that with the lift kit and possibly adjusting the king pin I'll be fine.
