Found one there from that description in Google Maps, but it has a building (or had one when the Google Street View car went by). Maybe that site no longer has a building, or what you saw was a remote site associated with that one?

It must be a different one then. I kinda thought that was too close to SC. I had overnighted at the Living Sky Casino in Swift Current. I don't recall how long we travelled west when we found it, but it is on the right side of the road, only accessible from west bound lanes.

edit: Lisa thinks we travelled a heck of a lot further than that, maybe it was in Alberta.

If you've not seen it, CAT Scales Locator shows a few in Calgary.

https://catscale.com/cat-scale-locat...s=2&cmdSearch=

Granted they are not free.

I had never heard of them before. A good option if I can't find free, but I will definitely look for free first.

In Alberta (and British Columbia) we're fortunate to have government-run highway scales that are freely available to the public, and generally have exterior displays which are left on all of the time so that we can weigh when the staff are gone and the trucks are not required to stop (so they're not busy and we can weigh without getting in anyone's way).

Commercially-operated scales - generally found at truck stops - are an alternative, which some might find convenient because they are closer (highway scales are generally a little way out of each major city, on each major highway).

CAT also has a smartphone app allowing you to pay and receive your weight without going inside and being distracted by snacks.

Since the starting point in Escape's weights is for base equipment, the comparison should be to the stock stove, not Escapes usual optional range with oven and stovetop. The Dickinson Mediterranean weighs 80 pounds, and the stock stove plus the cabinetry which would be under it (in space occupied by an oven) isn't likely more than a quarter of that. My rough estimate is +60 pounds for the range... plus of course there are the other options.

Good points. I'm curious Jim if you are planning to weight the trailer completely empty and dry, perhaps with the rear storage box empty but still attached. At least then you'll have a starting point.

3885 is the published dry weight but my 2017 5.0TA is listed at 4140, 255Lbs heavier. Still, I don't have reinforced walls, no A/C, no oven, the stock sink and stove, no bathroom sink, no dinette table. I do have the two 6v batteries (+ 75 Lbs), wrap around dinette, solar panel and surge protector and a second Maxx Fan(+17 Lbs) where the A/C would have gone. Not sure how they calculated the weight but I have never bothered to weigh my trailer because I try to travel light but with a full fresh tank.

Pay attention, eh!

I do plan to weigh the trailer completely empty to give an idea how much we can load into it, though have no idea when that will be, as starting right away, I am going to be super busy for a while (with exception of taking the Labour Day Weekend off). I also intend to weigh my cargo box separately too.

I am confident we can bring it down in weight.

Not sure how they calculated the weight...
Thanks, that's what I was talking about: Escape providing a weight for the specific unit.

Since buyers have reported receiving the report of the weight before the trailer is completed, it is presumably based on adding the known weights of options to the base weight. That's easy for the normal options, but not for customizations.

I had missed this until Brian quoted it. Where did you find this information, is it in the paperwork for the purchase?

Yup. No idea why. Mine is probably the least customized trailer in existence. No air, no surge protection, no inverter, stock everything.
It's also the best.

The 3885 pound value is just from the escapetrailer.com web page of specs for a base trailer; the 4140 pound value (for this specific unit) is what I expecting everyone to get in recent practice. I had heard of buyers getting the value in paperwork received after finalizing the build but before the trailer was constructed, but I may have misunderstood.

Excellent

But the paper in baglo's "vintage" trailer only explicitly lists the GVWR (1590 kg or 3500 lb), not the empty weight; the empty weight can be deduced from the GVWR, less the cargo carrying capacity (460 kg or 1012 lb) and possibly the fluids (not listed in this case)... so 1130 kg (2488 lb) or less empty weight. If the Escape 17' of the time listed a lower empty and dry weight (I think it did), and this unit has no options, there is presumably a water allowance. That sheet is a standard CSA form, nearly identical (maybe some minor revisions over time) to the one in my 1979 Boler; I assume that the current form is more detailed, or accompanied by a load capacity sticker with more detail.
