Air bags with WDH

I tow my 2018 Escape 19 with a 2017 Highlander XLE AWD. I full-time so both the trailer and vehicle are loaded right near GVWR. I know I need a heavier duty TV but the current market is crazy expensive so I have to wait a while until things calm down. Given all that, I am considering adding air bags to the rear of the Highlander to reduce the considerable rear end sag (even with the WDH which is Fastway E2). If I do that, just wondering how to go about setting the WDH. Seems that I should inflate the air bags to level the Highlander with its load first then do the WDH set up. I think Fastway says not to use airbags but I would really like to reduce rear end sag on the Highlander. Any and all thoughts/suggestions most welcome. Thanks!!

A quick search on www says to inflate the air bags and then set up the wdh. No one seems to say that you shouldn’t use both.

That makes sense, thanks. Digging a bit deeper on Google, thinking the air bags may not be the best approach. Might just do Sumo Coil inserts to give the HL rear springs a bit more stiffness then depend upon the Fastway E2 to distribute the weight.

Hi, Carl. I’ve had Sumo springs on my Tundras and really like them. But I don’t see them listed for a Highlander.

Remember that air bags, while leveling the truck, will not increaase your weight capacity.

Neither will sumo springs. 1/2 ton is a 1/2 ton regardless of what you add to it.
