Anticipated MPG towing a 17A with a 4L Frontier

Hi,

My wife and I are about to make a deposit on a Escape 17A. We seldom tow our current trailer faster than 65 MPH. Towing our little Scamp , we consistently exceed 18 MPG. Is it unreasonable to expect an average of 16 MPG towing a 17 Escape with our Frontier? What would a reasonable MPG estimate be?

TIA,
BobH.

Sure

You're likely about "spot on" with your estimate of mpg. But why fret? You'll be spending $$THOUSANDS$$ OF DOLLARS for the rig, and an mpg difference here or there is about pennies.
I don't think about gas prices. I need gas for my tug, I need to get away with my rig, so.... so it is.

YMMV

I get about 15mpg towing my 17b with a 3.6L Rav4. Toyota says to tow in 4th gear which puts the rpm at 2500 @60mph.

I get about 12-14 mpg towing a E19 with a frontier pro4x 6L so you should get close to 15-16 mpg towing a lighter 17a

Guys,

Thank you for the information. Today, my wife made the deposit. There seems to be inflation floating in in the air over North America.

I once years ago walked up to a guy standing next to a big 4 x4 truck.

What kind of gas mileage you get with that thing? I asked.

He looked at me and said “I you have to ask, you cannot afford it”

So that was the last time I ever asked or worried about gas mileage.
