Any experience towing with a Nissan Pathfinder?

Any experience towing with a Nissan Pathfinder? The vehicle has a towing capacity of 6000lbs which is better than the Toyota Highlander but I dont ever see anyone talk about this vehicle. Thoughts?

Because it's a Nissan. Personally I can't get far enough past the Datsun history to take the Nissan Pathfinder as a serious pickup for towing anything.
Maybe just me.

Probably because the Pathfinder is an SUV not a pickup. My daughter has a 2016 Pathfinder and tows her fiberglass camper without any problem. Others regularly post of their success with the Nissan Frontier ( which is a pickup) towing their 5.0 Escapes

The Nissan Pathfinder isn't a pickup.

Seeing Iowa Dave's remarks relating the Pathfinder and the Frontier, I have to comment. The Pathfinder and the Frontier are similar in towing capacity, but otherwise entirely unrelated vehicles. Best not to compare them except as for their suitability to your own particular needs.

I drive a '17 Frontier with a 4 liter V6 and 5 speed automatic transmission. The Pathfinder has a 3.5 liter V6 with a CVT transmission. The '20 Frontier has a new, but smaller and more powerful 3.8 liter engine and a new 9 speed tranny in the same old body and chassis.

I am very happy towing my 1st generation Escape 19 with my Frontier, but can't make any comparison of its suitability relative to the Pathfinder. Just sayin'...

We have been towing our (2013) 17B over 45,000 km with a Nissan Pathfinder (2012) with no issues. Up and down mountains, gravel roads, to the East Coast and back. For interest we live in the Yukon.

Not me, but for people who have towed with them... what year? There have been several generations of Pathfinders, which are very different, sharing nothing but the name and being SUVs.

OP considering for a 21 it seems. That trailer loaded will be 4500+ lbs. most likely. A Pathfinder with CVT trans will not likely be a positive experience.

We towed a 17B with a Murano and just didnt feel right so bought a Highlander. Now with a 21 we have an Expedition and it is an awesome 21 tug.

I should have used more commas and paragraph breaks. My intent was not to compare the Payhfinder with the Frontier. Due to my anecdotal writing style and stream of consciousness affliction, my comments are often slightly misinterpreted.

I should have been more blunt and stated
1. A Pathfinder is not a pickup truck
2. Pathfinders tow fiberglass trailers satisfactorily for some owners
3. The Nissan Frontier is a pickup
4. Nissan Frontiers tow Escape trailers satisfactorily for a number of owners.

Thanks for your response--now I need to offer my own.

First, I found nothing I disagreed with in your original post. My writing style can sometimes be rather blunt, and lead a reader to think I am being disagreeable. My apologies for that if that's how I came across. I was just trying to add a bit more information to the conversation.

Second, as a newbie to this forum, and to the Escape community, I find your commentary informative and entertaining. If I should read something you say to differ from my own opinion enough to cause me to comment, I hope to do so engagingly enough that I can advance the conversation without ruffling any feathers. We tow our 17b with a 2015 pathfinder. It has a tow package. We live in BC so lots of hills. We use the equalizer hitch. Working fine so far.
