Looked at some soft lp covers on line but all have bad reviews. Cannot locate another brand that will fit.

Anybody ever modify their tank cover? It is wider at the top, and I need it to be about 2" narrower (it is wider at the top then the bottom).
After installing a electric jack and turning the head , still too tight. I changed to the same cover but taller for 30 gal. tanks . There is a bump out that is the problem going taller now more room . Pat

Hey guys,
I have plenty of room on the backside of the propane cover where the cover meets the storage box, however the lower rib on the propane cover is tight between the tanks and the electric head as it slides over the tanks. So maybe my propane platform is shifted towards the electric jack and yours is positioned closer to the storage box. I guess the only real way of knowing would be to measure from the tip of the hitch to the front of the propane platform. Sound like I have a mission today! I will report back.

Ok here are a few close up pictures and measurements. Looks like the distance from hitch to propane platform is 16 1/4 inches.

Mine measures at 16 3/8". Still not quite enough room for the top part of the tank cover.

Have you tried swinging the propane tank regulator bracket to face towards back (trailer)? My cover got hung up on the indent molded ridge on lower tank cover being stopped by metal bracket. By swinging regulator bracket to face trailer it can be lifted freely.

Chuck,
Just went out and switched my change over valve to face the camper, great idea works flawlessly now. The cover can be removed and replaced without any force at all.
Thanks again
Shawn

That tank cover is reversible, there is no front or back per se

Just a thought , when I installed my jack head to frame there is a little adjustment . In other words , you can loosen the 3 bolts and see if you can move a little forward or back . Pat

Jim,
Agreed same back to front but the top access flap is better with hinges forward into wind. Also, the indent plastic ridge that is an obstacle is on both back and front molds.

For me the problem was the power head dome light on revolved unit plus propane regulator bracket was a pinch point forcing twisting and flexing of cover to get molded ridge past. I had a sudden " duh!! moment looking at it and said to my self why don't I just revolve the regulator bracket to face the back?" Problem solved and cover slips up and down perfectly.

I had the same duh moment when I had my coupler changed out and shifted the regulator to face the trailer. So far, seems much better.

Well, I solved the problem of the "too wide" tank cover after rotating the head of my electric tongue jack. Used a heat gun, softened up the plastic and pushed it in on each side and "VOILA".......it now fits. Having never used a heat gun before it was not a real pretty job, but it works. Can't see too much as the back side is against the storage box, and the front is obscured by the jack head.

Before I resorted to getting the taller propane cover I did that but didn’t succeed. Hopefully it does for you . Did you try to just loosen the 3 bolts holding your jack and seeing if you can get a little more space ? Pat

I looked at that, but the bolts are screwed directly into the hitch frame, no nuts, and there did not appear to be any room for movement. I took one bolt out, and seeing that there was no way the jack would move forward. A good idea, but on my 2019 19' I could not get it to cooperate.
Anyway, appreciate your ideas.

There isn’t any nuts on ours either but the jack moved a little , all 3 bolts need to be loosened . Pat
