Ball Moint /Ball to Tow 17- 2017 Trailhawk

I will be picking up a 17B this week. My Jeep has never towed so I have no ball mount or ball. Looking for recommendations for same for my 2017 Jeep Trailhawk with Tow Package. Newbie, I am ! Do I need a mount with a rise with this combo ? Any advice appreciated.

Is it a Cherokee or a grand Cherokee?

Does your Trailhawk have the quadra lift air suspension system?

Are you planning on using a WDH? If so you don't need to buy a different ball mount. If you do buy a WDH remember you have to have the correct 2" ball for the particular model of WDH(ball not included). Not any 2" ball will work as there are differences in diameter of the ball's threaded bolt- or whatever they call it- as well as length.

I am open to any device, regardless of cost to ensure as much as possible...SAFE Towing. So, please tell me. Do I need a WDH ? I assume that means weight distribution hitch ?

Thanks.

Jim

I don't think so. No air suspension system.

I have the Cherokee Trailhawk with the tow package. Not the Grand Cherokee.

Am fairly certain many, if not most tow their Escape bumper pull trailers with a WDH- especially with a mid-size SUV. We used one with our 17B/Highlander combo then with our 21/Yukon combo. It wasn't needed- the 2007-2014 Yukons have a pretty stiff rear suspension, yet it towed better overall and especially in wind. Use it also with the Expedition that has a softer rear suspension. Doubt you will regret having one.

When you purchase the ball for the stinger or a WDH, purchase a Andersen Greaseless Hard Ball (scroll to the bottom of the page). You never have to deal with grease on your ball and it's guaranteed for life. And they are surprisingly low cost for eliminating the aggravation of greasy hands and clothes.

Enjoy,

Perry

I heard they'll throw in a chisel for carving your initials in national monuments.

While we're on the subject. I just want to confirm this.

I've read the loaded hitch height is supposed to be 19", or 21 5/8" with the high lift kit.

That is from the ground to the top of the hitch ball correct?
