We have those chocks and do use them and like especially being able to put a lock on them . Kids bought them for us when trailer was new .

Yup. I had the hitch swing to the right, off the planks I had put down, while I was adjusting level. I dodged the hitch and was lucky that the chocks on the left side kept it from rolling.

The Fastways are the bomb: easy to apply, secure, and as a plus, you can lock them as a theft prevention device. You really only need one because most of the time you need to level one side of the trailer, and the Fastways work best on the uphill side (without levelers). On the lower side use either LEGO style blocks or Anderson style levelers, whichever you prefer, plus some regular chocks., or the wedges that come with the Andersons. We carry both Anderson curved levelers and LEGO style as sometimes one works better than the other. Every campsite is different, and if you camp or travel a bunch, it’s good to have some versatility in your gear.

Chock in front and back is always good. Thump them in with a rubber hammer or your best friend in a tight situation, an axe handle.

We find a hatchet to be a handy thing to keep in our front box. Mostly it gets used to hammer in stakes for the outdoor carpet in front of the door. Occasionally it gets used to split kindling for campfires. At home it gets thrown at a big tree round that we have propped on a stand, sort of like macho darts. Have to keep those skills sharp for the Zombie Apocalypse.

I have a couple of axes and a couple of mauls - probably could spare one for the new rig.

I split wood with a 3 or 4 lb Engineers hammer and a couple steel wedges. I have a splitting maul but rarely use it. I usually just have a kindling hatchet along, a small wood saw (folder) and a small heavy duty garden shovel.. The weight of things can get away from you. I always wear goggles if splitting wood with a wedge and hammer because a piece of steel can come off the wedge if it’s “mushed out” or even if it isn’t and can blind you if it goes in your eye. Or cut your face. I do not throw hatchets unless it’s a throwing hatchet (Hawk) and it’s a handle hunt for money. And they frown on this activity in camp grounds.

I prefer a dead blow hammer, also available in several weights/sizes from Harbor Freight for a reasonable price.

I have a lot of hammers but no dead blow hammers. We used them a lot in the parks
to set pavers on a sand base back in the day. I’m now thinking about Trini Lopez who I saw in concert at Iowa State in about 1969. It was Viesha and he did “ If I had a hammer”

Never heard of a dead blow hammer. Making my First Trip Ever to Harbor Freight on Labor Day, will scope 'em out.
