we pull our 5.0TA with a GMC Sierra short bed, 5'8" long. The pickup does a wonderful job towing the the 5.0, and although the short bed does have just enough clearance, I personally would not recommend buying a short bed. You will be so much happier with a 6 and a half foot bed. Also as others have mentioned, pay very close attention to the payload on the Ram trucks. Good luck!

And of course with the Andersen, you can set the quite a few inches back from the axle centerline. I've got the 6.5 bed and I use that feature.

Yes I use my truck as my main vehicle so I wanted a short bed I don't like driving a really long truck around town it depends on what you want some people really want space in the bed to haul stuff and a short bed is not useful enough for them.

A long truck to me is a semi pulling a 53 ft trailer.
My pickup is about 17 ft long so rather short in comparison.
Some people buy trucks to be used as a truck , others buy a truck to use as a commuter vehicle or just because they like to drive a truck for the cool factor. Either one works for me.
I wish my quad cab had an 8 ft bed but everything is a compromise.
