Eaz-Lift Recurve R6

Wondering if anyone has experience with this weight distribution hitch.

It has several features that look appealing including a bit less weight than other similar designs, bars that do not drop below the trailer frame and adjustable sway control also with an on/off switch.

What is not so appealing is the apparent conflicting information about the current model status and description.

The Eaz-Lift/Camco site shows an apparently upgraded version that has frame mount plates that offer solid offset adjustment for the mount straps as opposed to simple 2” or so wide compression mount straps that might pitch fore/aft on the trailer frame.

Virtually all retailers who advertise this hitch show the earlier frame mount pictures. Both versions use the same model number. Camping World wants $900 for the 6000 lb. version while other retailers are in the $500-$600 range. None of the retailers I contacted were aware of the frame mount differences nor of the discrepancy between their photos and those on the manufacturer’s web site.

And then there was the call to Camco/Eaz-Lift. The customer service guy has no innate knowledge of the hitch products. He didn’t know the difference between the frame mounts. he couldn’t explain why two different products carried the same part number.

It shouldn’t be this hard to buy something. Maybe that is the best answer to my question about the hitch.

I hadn't seen this before. Starting looking around on the web and came across this: https://www.forestriverforums.com/fo...ws-153339.html
FWIW. Amazon reviews mostly look good, though.

Thanks, Mike. I stumbled upon one horror story about someone losing the frame connection to one of the bars and losing the trailer to a passing big rig.

Apparently the bars are held in place by detent pins with push buttons a a ball bearing that appears to barely protrude above the pin shaft.

That plus a call to Camco that resulted in me listening to someone reading from a script and who obviously had never seen the hitch up close has led me to a decision to move on. Back to the Blue Ox SwayPro.

I've had an Equal-i-zer and an Andersen No-Sway. Both of them did a good job. I have admired (from afar) the Husky Centerline TS, though, and would consider it also if I ever needed another WD/sway hitch.
