We don't use a WDH with our 19' Escape. Our Ranger pickup has a pretty hefty payload capacity (over 1700 lbs) and rides more level with a load than without. Seems adding a WDH would just lift the back up to where it's higher than the front so we decided to pick ours up without a WDH last year and try it without first.
Our Escape pulls fine without the WDH, so we never got one.
I looked at the WDH hitch you are considering, and noted it comes with a 2 5/16" ball (our Escape has a 2" ball) so that will have to be replaced. I also noted you selected the 800 lb tongue weight version. I don't have experience with WDH but from past research it seems a 800 lb version would have stiffer springs than the 600 lb version and might be overkill, unless you expect to exceed a 600 lb tongue weight. Perhaps others that use WDH can chime in with their thoughts on the weight ratings.

That's good info - thanks! This is an area where I'm kind of feeling my way along and appreciate all comments. I wasn't sure about the ball size so that's good to know. And you're right, the 600 lb version is likely more than adequate. I would watch tongue weight pretty closely.
I'll probably replace my TV before my Escape is completed and almost certainly will be buying a mid-size truck along the lines of your Ranger or perhaps a Colorado. Curious about the new Frontier as well.
With regards to WDH about the only thing I'm certain of is I don't want something that I have to unhook to back up!

I’ve towed my new E19 with a new Ranger with and without the wdh. Loaded for travel there is only about 3/4” difference on the front end with my setup, and 1828lbs payload. It is smoother riding to tow with it, so I prefer towing with it.
