Fastway E2 Weight?

I know this is kind of a weird question, but does anyone have any idea what the weight of the Fastway E2 hitch is without the stabilizer bars? Just trying to gauge how hard it is to get the hitch into the tow vehicle receiver?

I am taking delivery of our E19 in 2 weeks and am on restricted lifting duty due to a bit of surgery. Wondering if I need to drag a companion 3 hrs to help me hook up...

From what I hear, the Escape driver can't/won't help - just delivers the trailer, correct?

Thanks!

I just weighed mine. It weighs 50# exactly. It is also a bit awkward to carry due to its shape. You also want to avoid the ball and stabilizer bar sockets since they may have grease on them.

Best to wear gloves when handling.

Thanks! About what I thought... Sure exceeds the 15lb limit the docs gave me. Guess I had better drag someone along...

Why not do it at home where help is available, then all is needed is height adjustment, which is 19" standard Escape height if I recall correctly........

Unfortunately, Escape will not deliver to my home - nearest delivery is 3 hrs away. I need to go and get it... Unless the Escape driver (subcontractor) will help me install the hitch (which is with the trailer) - kinda stuck...

help lifting

You will also have a roll back driver to help and a 20$ goes a long way. When I was having trouble lifting the the 50# at home I would slide it across the floor and tilt it up and then slide it in to the receiver.

Good point. I am kinda thinking the same thing. Honestly, I was hoping to sneak off and find a site for the night to sort of shake things out. If I drag someone with me, I’ll need to entertain them.

Think the driver would help me lift the hitch? The rest is relatively low impact isn’t it?

lift help

You will have two drivers to choose from, one would surely give a hand for 20$. You might want to consider a tip to cover a meal.

Absolutely! Happy tip one or both... Just don't want to be left in some parking lot in the middle of nowhere with a75# hitch to lift...

Thanks for your help!

Missing something. Why can't you have somebody insert the hitch at your home or dealer's shop? It's not ideal to drive with it installed, but you can.

Hitch was purchased from Escape - 3,000 miles away. Maybe I should have purchased directly, but the E19 and the hitch are coming on the same truck from BC...

I bought one of these and it works well:

Gives you better leverage to lift the stinger. Not sure how compromised your surgery has left you, but this has greatly helped my lifting the tongue to the receiver.
