Hitch tightness

When I try to lift the hitch locking pin to disconnect trailer, it will not pull up. what might be the difficulty

Back up a couple inches. Put the vehicle in neutral and let it settle. That should take pressure off the latching mechanism so you can open it.

Hi: Woody... In Fla. while camping we got new neighbours. They had just arrived from "The frozen north". Hadn't had to disconnect prior. I was allerted to his hammering on the hitch. It wouldn't budge. Finally I said "Pull the cotter pin and the stinger pin" and after he did that and pulled his truck forward the whole stinger fell out on the ground. Proves a second set of eyes can be useful. Alf
