I checked recently and my config I ordered last February is not possible now. In my case 2.7EB XLT Supercab with 6.5ft bed, tow package, Payload package. 360 Cameras, Tow mirrors, CoPilot2. Think I was so lucky with my timing. Got my perfect truck….and about to get my perfect trailer (hopefully)!

And looking forward to do your mod Alan of integrated the trailer TPMS and backup camera into my F150 dash. Job for next spring.

I'm not sure that your XL will have the features required to support the integrated trailer TPMS+cam accessory kit from Ford, but we'll try to figure that out together via email exchange of pics and info.

I’ve just started reading this thread as my husband and I want to move up to a new F150 for a cross-country road trip in 2024. We’ve loved our 2013 F150 Ecoboost but feel that as he’s nearing retirement and our traveling will significantly increase over the next 10 years that now would be a good time to get that “forever truck.” That doesn’t mean we have all the money in the world to spend, so this thread was very interesting until I read the line about no more 2023 orders by Chip in Iowa. Do any of you have thoughts or suggestions you could impart? We’ll be towing our Escape 19 with zero plans to go larger. Maybe we’ll just have to go with a local dealer with whatever 2023 F150 is left over (yes, my ignorance is showing)? I sure am sorry we didn’t know to jump on a purchase over Labor Day weekend.

Hi Ellen - I'm not sure if they're taking orders on the 2024 models yet or what the lead times might be (particularly given the current UAW strike), but you could always ask Chip @ Granger. Also, Granger does have 2023 F150's in stock & I believe they are also priced @ 3% below invoice:

So you may want to see what the local NorCal dealers have available then compare to Granger's pricing to see if it's worth the trip to Iowa (it certainly was for me!) Good luck & happy shopping!

As I'm sure you appreciate the current UAW strike actions / threats introduce a new layer of unknowns regarding F150 buying in the near future. IMO no one knows how that will play out and its effects, but at this moment 2023 F150 inventories seem to be good and the ongoing production of 2023 F150s is not (yet?) impacted.

Given what seems like a willingness on your part to travel from CA to IA to get a deal from Chip, all I can suggest is that you expand the inventory search for your preferred "forever truck" beyond local dealers / the state of California.

You can use internet searching of far distant dealers to find vehicles beyond the range of those a local dealer would be willing / able to transport to their lot, and perhaps a better deal on pricing. Even though it wouldn't be the same deal as offered for new orders, I'd give Chip a call to see if he might have something of interest to you in his current or anticipated 2023 inventory.

Thanks much Alan and Jim for your replies and suggestions. I did go on Granger’s website and they do have a lot of 2023 F150’s available, with Ecoboost which we currently have and love its performance. We’re still trying to balance hanging onto what we have and dumping a bit of cash on issues that bother us, or buying new and getting some of the safety features we’d like.

One thing that I also know nothing about is the difference between the 3.5L Ecoboost and the 3.5L POWERBOOST FULL-HYBRID Engine? Thoughts??

Just doing homework to see what’s out there that might tip the scales. I’ll call Chip and see what he can offer.

When we were shopping, one of my "must have" options was the extended range 36 gal fuel tank which, for the 2023 model year, was not available on the 3.5L Powerboost. So I was really only considering the 2.7L and 3.5L Ecoboost models. If you're looking for a truck that will be a daily driver, and for some short camping trips towing your trailer, the Powerboost may be a good candidate. However I was looking for a truck that would be used primarily as a tow vehicle for longer-haul trips and also wanted to maximize available payload. I ended up getting the 3.5L ecoboost and have been very happy with it, (although we don't yet have our trailer.)

We currently have a 2013 3.5L Ecoboost and have been very pleased with it, so planning to go for that, but I see that the Powerboost Hybrid gets much better mileage and I’d not heard of it before. This will be one of our primary vehicles, but we’re really considering a new Truck as this next 10 years or so will be our upcoming years of big trips. We’ve mostly kept to the west coast or southern states, but with my husband retiring and us being in our mid-60’s its time to get out and hit the road. :-)

Hi, Ellen. We have a 2021 F-150 PowerBoost we bought in March of 2022 that we use to tow our 2022 Escape 21C. We appreciate the good gas mileage as a daily driver (about 23 to 24-ish mpg for most driving and better at times depending on driving conditions). We also like the built-in 7.2kW inverter/generator we opted for that runs everything in our 21C if needed (including the air conditioner). The PowerBoost is essentially a 3.5L EcoBoost while towing, though, and gets the same type mpg in those conditions.

NEVER MIND - I see that using one leg of the 240 volt truck plug is the approach...so 3,600 watts / 30 amps of 120 volts is available.

Curious - how are you hooked up to the trailer? What kind of adapters (if any) do you use? Seems if utilizing the 120 volt truck plug, you would be limited to to either 15 or 20 amps, which is only 1,800 or 2,400 watts? Or, some kind of workaround on the 240 volt truck plug @ 3,600 watts per 120 volt leg?

Seems like one leg of the 240 volt truck plug would get you 30 amps @ 120 volts?
