Before dropping this as well I will make one more comment for future readers.

I did go through the Canyon user manual and it clearly stated the load limit displayed on the label must be reduced by the weight of all occupants and cargo. So there’s no “free” 150lb for the driver or the passenger on the Canyon

I need to add up my wife’s weight and mine, the car seats, the grandkids, any luggage, tools, lawn chairs, etc, the weight of the hitch and the weight placed on the truck by the trailer, and ensure all this is below 1411lb. I plan to get an Escape 5.0 which will have a pin weight of about 900lb so I will need to be careful but should be OK.
