Due to the compromise between tall enough gearing to allow desired top speed and short enough gearing to provide desired low-speed power, a very few EVs have two-speed transmissions, although only for the rear wheels in the cases that I am aware of: the various Rimacs and the Porsche Taycan (and presumably the Audi models related to that Porsche). The same logic could apply to an off-road capable EV; the lower ratio could be good for getting a heavy trailer moving.
