Let's talk about mud flaps....
After towing with the new truck and upon arrival at the campground I was greeted with some new decorations on BlackJack. Up each corner and down below the trailer was covered with tar and road debris. My other truck had mud flaps, so they really make a difference. I installed a new set of Husky "no drill" flaps today.

No, I got the 5.7 Hemi with the 8 speed trans and 3:21 rear, getting around 14-15 towing and 19 overall, a lot better than the 5.7 and 5 speed/ 3:55 rear in my 09 model I traded in!!

I test drove the Ram 1500 Hemi a few weekends ago and really loved all that power. I'm not sure I am willing to get rid of my Tacoma quite yet, but difference was really appealing.
If a Ram ends up in my driveway, it's good to know mud flaps should be on the "must have" accessory list.

Since I was ordering a vehicle for towing, mud flaps were #4 on my list with bigger engine, tow package, and 4wd being 1, 2, and 3. They were a $150.00 option and even have the GMC logo on them. But I still wonder if I won't need something more substantial when we run the Alcan highway. I have looked at the full mud flap that goes across the rear and attaches to the hitch. Don't know if this will work with an Anderson hitch plus they say it chops your gas mileage some. Maybe the front storage box catches all the debris and saves the front of the trailer. Loren

I bought the "brush" that ETI was offering as an option. It seems to do the job.

When we "did" the Alcan LONG ago we:
1) bought special plastic headlight covers
2) made a sheet metal and angle iron gas tank protector
3) attached one of those heavy rubber(?) towed vehicle rock shields
4) had 4 brand new tires on the car and 4 on the trailer
AND we replaced (ruined due to rock breaks) 2 car tires and I think 1 trailer tire. AND got a rebuilt transmission shipped in overnight by bus from Edmonton and installed Saturday morning in (I think Dawson Creek.)
