mileage with a 19'

Trying to find out the difference between my current mileage with my stick built hybrid as opposed to an Escape 19. For those who own a 19, if you know it, can you please post your average mileage and what you tow with? If your interested, I get 11mpg pulling a 3400lb 16' box with a GMC V8 pu. I'm hoping the Escape does somewhat better.

Thanks Bob

Re: mileage with a 19'

Spent the month of September travelling from our home in Terrace, BC to St. George, Utah and then home, 7,884 km in total. We pull our 19 footer with an 07 GM Trailblazer. Averaged 17 mpg which we considered good as at times we climbed to nearly 10,000 feet. For this trip we spent $1,132.00 CDN on gas. A wonderful trip.

I'm going to assume that when people are posting M.P.G. that that is the U.S. gallon which is smaller than the Imperial gallon, but it would be more informative if this was made clear.

For instance, on our recent Oregon trip ( almost 1,600 kilometers - a thousand miles ) we averaged 13.32 liters per 100 kilometers ( with and without the trailer ). That converts to 17.77 MPG ( U.S. ) or 21.22 MPG ( Imperial ).

Re: mileage with a 19'

Just got back from Chilliwack this weekend with a new 17B. Checked mileage from Bellingham to Helena, MT. Got a very disappointing 12.5 MPG. Distance was 700 miles--trailer was dry and the pickup carried 2 people with 2 suitcases. I normally get a consistent 20 MPG without the trailer.
We have a 2009 Tacoma (ext. cab,v6,auto,4wd,factory tow). Maybe I was traveling a wee bit fast. Mostly between 70-75 MPH. Will have to compare it next spring at a slower pace.
Been getting acquainted with the little bugger the last couple days and am completely satisfied with the fit and finish. Thank you Tammy and Reace, your build a super quality product you should be very proud of. Also, you were a joy to do business with. Now, back to the mileage problem.....Ron

Hi: RonS... If you slowed down to 60MPH your mileage will vary!!! Alf

Hi Ron

I have the same truck and have towed our 19 all over the place.
If you keep it between 90 - 100 km you should get 17 mpg (14.15 US mpg)
and if you travel back and forth form 110 - 135 km it will drop to 14 mpg (11.65 US mpg)
This is what I have found after towing some 2500 plus miles.
On the bright side the Tacoma sure pulls nice...

Doug

My mileage experience pulling our 19 with our 06 Tacoma is very similar to Doug's.

Re: mileage with a 19'

Thanks guys for the reply. And your right Doug, it sure pulls easily. I'm sure surprised that I should expect only 14 to 15 MPG driving 60-65 MPH.But I'll just have to accept that fact....Ron
