Thanks for the update David. Sounds like a nice hitch. I saw you did quite a bit of research on Demco. Any thoughts on how the gooseneck mount version would work with a 5 1/2 foot bed?

Since the gooseneck version has the post with the hitch head offset 3" to the rear, I would think that would be an advantage with a short bed. I kind of wish I had done that, our tailgate opens when hitched but only with one inch of clearance, I find that it's really hard to back up perfectly parallel when hitching and so I usually hitch up in two steps and close the tailgate, if I'm off just a bit and back all the way into the hitch I'd crunch the tailgate. The offset with the gooseneck version would eliminate that problem.

I read somewhere that one of the gooseneck base/ball manufactures mounts 1 inch behind the axle, plus the three for Demo would put me in the goldilocks zone that the Anderson gives. (I think I saw that for Anderson ). If so, I like the pluses for Demco. Thanks for posting the info. Maybe another Demco owner has tried the gooseneck mount on a 5 1/2 and can say how it worked.
