New Tow Vehicle Lexus GX 460

We have been towing our 2014 19' since new with a 2008 4Runner, it has worked fine but not stellar. We just upgraded to a 2021 Lexus GX 460 Executive and are loving the new tug, more power, more comfortable, quiet and so far better gas mileage

Hi, we tow our 21NE with our 2006 GX470. It works great, lots of power for those high Colorado passes.

Hello Ian
What a nice looking tow vehicle and combination. And great photo of the mountains.
All the Best

We looked at an older gx but decided the premium gas requirement was the decision against it. But it was a beautiful vehicle. Good for you .

Thanks all. I can live with the premium gas, my biggest concern was the side swing door and if it would open far enough. As it turns out it opens more than far enough.

I use regular gas on the GX470 and in the mountains it runs much better than premium. I took it to BC when we picked our escape. I have 176,000 miles on it and it doesn’t use any oil. Also all my fluids are synthetic. If I could figure out how to load a picture I also post it.

Nice , the GX 470 are fantastic vehicles. The GX 470 engine (2UZ-FE) has lower compression 9.6:1 vs the GX 460 1UR-FE engine which has 10.2:1 that could be the difference for requiring premium in the GX 460.

Looks like your door swings open much further with the trailer attached than was the case for my FJ attached to the 19'.

Good to know, we are going to look at the 2022 tundra, we both own Toyotas now, a Camray and a Prius prime. Can’t beat the company for reliable vehicles

@Ian G
Thanks for posting this, Ian.
We pick up our new 21NE in about 2 months and will be pulling it with a 2018 GX460.
I couple things you mentioned were helpful.
