No Emergency Flashers

Today when I hooked up the trailer I put the flashers on but the trailer lights did not flash. Turn signals worked as did lights and brakes. I have a Honda Pilot that came factory wired for 4-prong connector that is now plugged into a 7-prong. This is the first time I tried the flashers.

Has anyone else observed this? Not good for a breakdown.

It seems to me that the only likely suspect is the converter which takes the separate trun and stop signals and puts out the combined signals to the trailer connector. Every other such converter I've used handles this correctly, flashing both of the trailer's combined turn/stop circuits when the tug's hazard/four-way flashers are on.

I agree that if the trailer's lights don't flash with the tug, this is a safety hazard.

I had something similar happen... my side markers did not light up. It was the night before a trip. The next morning before pulling out they miraculously worked. Recently, an LED interior ceiling light did not turn on, but a moment later it worked as normal.

This odd phenomena, it has been suggested, could be due to LED fixtures easily becoming "masked" by dust that the extremely low voltage then needs a little more time to burn off. In my case, it turned out there was nothing wrong.

I haven't tried to diagnose the problem, but appreciate the suggestions. I posted the thread only to alert people to check their emergency flashes. I routinely only checked the signals, brakes, and lights. Lo an behold.

If the problem is because of dust (which can be pointed to cleaning), I'm screwed

Problem fixed. It was poor connections. The garage that installed the brake controller did a poor job of taping wires together.

Be sure to check emergency flashers when going through hitch up routine.
