Question from Newbie re Towing Equipment

Hi all,

I'll be taking delivery of my Escape 19 in May (it will be delivered) and need some help with towing equipment. I have a factory installed Class III hitch on my 2011 Ford F150 SuperCrew 4X4. I'm getting a brake controller installed next weekend. I just realized I need a ball mount and don't know what kind/drop/size of ball, etc, that I need.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Re: Question from Newbie re Towing Equipment

Hi, You could install a brake controller on a 2011. It is plug and play. Just need a cable to plug in under the dash to the controller and of course mount the controller. The ball size is 2 inch. I tow with a 2007 Tundra 4x4 I uses a stinger with a slight dip in it. My trailer pulls level. Dave at the factory will show you how to hook up the trailer. If you don't have the correct stinger their is a Walmart not far away.

Re: Question from Newbie re Towing Equipment

Hi: ColoRockiesFan... Measure from the top of the class111 hitch receiver to the ground. then call Escape and find out how tall the tongue is from the ground when the trailer is level. The difference should equal the drop of the stinger you need. With a double axle trailer the level tow is very critical to keep equal weight on each axle. Alf

I don't say this very often, but do what Alf said.

I forget what the height of the hitch is on my 19, and it is still at my storage garage.
