Setting for Redarc trailer brake.

Quick question. I just installed a Redarc trailer brake on my Tacoma in advance of picking up our 5.0 in June. What is a good starting point for the break setting for the 5.0. Thanks.

every rig+trailer combo is different... you want the gain set so the trailer is neither pushing nor dragging the tug when you're braking hard. it should feel like the trailer isn't there.

i find when I'm on a gravel or dirt road I have to turn the brake controller gain down quite a bit to keep the trailer tires from skidding under even modest braking, but that may be aggravated by my tug having big all/terrain tires which have very good traction in dirt/gravel, especially compared with the 15" trailer tires.

During orientation, they (Dennis maybe) recommended at starting point for our vehicle/trailer setup and noted where he thought we would end up after towing for a little bit. He was right on the money and we ended up where he thought we would ultimately be. They will help you when they see your vehicle.
