We have about 6,000 miles towing our 2017 17B with a 2017 Honda Pilot EX-L AWD. We tow at higher speeds 65-70 and average 14-15 mpg fully loaded with all kinds of stuff, 2 people and 2 dogs.
It does the job, but you don't buy one of those SUV's as a dedicated tow vehicle, so your buying decision should be focused on your OTHER needs. We bought it because it has more interior space than many full-size SUV's like a Tahoe, seats 8 comfortably, gets about 25 mpg NOT towing, and has minimal maintenance requirements with a great resale value. It's easy to park, comfortable, and powerful as a daily driver.
It's not clear from your post, but If you want to buy a DEDICATED tow vehicle, I would recommend something with more torque and towing capacity. It's always about balancing capability with your specific needs, but any of those choices will be a compromise compared to a full-size truck.
