Do you mean 17B or a 19?? If a 17B, I wouldn't think you'd need a WDH with that truck. If for a 19, it might be worth considering depending on your vehicle's payload. If it's not high, your truck might squat with the tongue weight of a 19, particularly the 2nd generation 19's. The payload on my pickup is 1,385 lbs, and it squats about an inch or so without the WDH, which we have and purchased from Escape. The WDH smooths the ride out, and the truck is completely level when hitched to the trailer. I've towed with and without the WDH and prefer towing with the WDH. Lots of folks do tow without one, however.

My experience is exactly that of salmo7000. I tow with a 2nd gen tundra. 17a didn’t need a wdh but the 19 really tows better. Truck is more stable/planted with it.

I tow a 5.0 with my 2018 Tundra 5.7L.
So this has no bearing on this conversation what-so-ever.
I just wanted to say Tundras kick ass!

I tow with a first gen 2000 Tundra (only 70,000 miles On the odometer believe or not) it pulls my Escape 19 just fine without a weight distribution hitch. I have to add that I did add Sumo springs the blue colour, I like their performance. I hope this helps.

A 2004 dodge 3500 diesel 8’ box would be my dream. Second a 2002 Ford 350 diesel also 8’ box. My tundra works but either of those would be lifetime trucks. One day

That's a pretty wide open question, Johnny. Hopefully you'll get a bunch of replies.
To help narrow it a little, you might describe how many will be traveling with you, any pets, and any large items you would bring like special equipment or kayaks.
Then you would express any preference for an SUV versus a pickup. Step-in/ step-up height for vehicles is sometimes a limiting factor. If you have a brand preference or a favorite dealer nearby, that could be a factor.
Most importantly, don't listen to vehicle sales people. Your trailer will weigh about 4500 lbs and will have a tongue weight around 500 lbs. A tow rating of 5,000 is really too light unless you are very experienced. Payload, which is what your tow vehicle can legally carry includes the 500 tongue weight and the people pets and stuff you load into it. Recently most manufacturers show the answer for each specific vehicle on a sticker in the driver door area. You'll be amazed how low these can be, even on pickups, like 1100 lbs. Leave yourself a good margin there, too.
Oh, and you didn't mention a price range, or if you're looking new or used.

If I’m spending other people’s money i think a AMG G 63 could be a pretty fun tow rig.

Read through the threads under Towing and Hitching. If your not sure, start a thread of your own.
My advice. Get a full size truck. A 21NE is around 4500lbs and I often advise people to be at 50% capacity as towing long distances is really hard on a vehicle. Every hill your climb is like a drag race. I had it almost to the floor pulling my Escape 17B with a new 4Runner west of Denver. The air is thin up there which lowers your horse power.
Do you want a reliable used truck, get a Tundra, they go forever, sort of like Escape Trailers.

Whatever the vehicle, a WDH helps
I just attached my WDH minutes ago to my E19. They are a PITA but really improve the towing experience and add to the safety. Because I can tow without one, and have, doesn't mean I want to at all.
Tug: 2012 E350 full size Chevy van, 6L, V-8. Tow capacity 9,600 lbs. I don't need one, but use one.

Or a Toyota Sequoia if you prefer an SUV over a pick up truck. I have noticed Sequoias tend to be less expensive than equivalent Tundras and are often in better shape.
