Considering that it takes about 20 ft of wire for the average vehicle the actual cost to upgrade from #12 AWG to #10 AWG is $2.40 in USD.
Sure... if you stock the wire. If you are just buying a small spool at retail for the only job that will ever need it, so you don't buy a $320 spool that will never be used up, $25 isn't unreasonable compared to any part sold by an automotive dealer:
10 Gauge 25 ft Primary Wire
(Princess Auto is a local low-priced retailer and this is their lowest-priced house brand)
This is probably about what I paid for the 10-gauge wire I put in my Sienna.

I probably have 3000 or 4000 ft of #10 in my storage shed so I am OK . I was just pointing out that at $25 for 20 ft of #10 that is a 800% markup . That's a nice profit margin if you can get it.
