Towing with a Ford F150

The Specifications on my Ford SuperCrew list the height of the tailgate as 58.3 inches, the specs for pulling the Escape 5.0 claims nothing over 58 inches in height will work? Does .3 inches rule me out? JIM

Lots of folks towing their 5.0 with a late model F150 SuperCrew will be surprised by that.

Perhaps you could verify that and measure to confirm? If you're still concerned, perhaps you could go with slightly smaller tires on your F150; that would bring your height down a bit. My guess, however, is that it won't be an issue, but I would confirm with ETI myself on this one. Best, -Bea.

You just need to carry more crap in the back of your truck. That and the weight of the new hitch will get you even closer.

My 2016 F-150 XLT 4x4 SuperCrew 5'-6" bed with FX4 off-road package just measured at 57 1/2" from the garage floor to the top of the tailgate with the factory stock tires.

I have nothing in the bed or inside the cab.

I have the same truck ( as WillyB) except the 6.5' bed and my tailgate height is the same as yours. I have never looked for a factory spec on tailgate height . Bought mine used with 26k miles on it. obviously will have lift kit on my 5.0

I have the 2015 Ford F150 XLT Supercrew with max tow package which I think may raise the truck slightly in the back end; I have no lift kit on the 5TA and it tows perfectly level and fine.
