Towing with Dodge Van

Opinions on towing a 19 or 21 with a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 Wagon (van)?

I love this forum and value (most) the opinions here. Thanks in advance

I don't own the van, yet. The information I have is 230 @ 4400 RPM HP, V8, and 5.2 L.

Well, then you are safe.

I wouldn't buy a new Fiat/Chrysler product, never mind a Dodge that old.
That's from experience.

Can you explain why? The van has a little over 100k miles.

The company I worked for always bought the cheapest vehicles they could get - Dodge products. Not sure why, unless the fleet manager got kickbacks from the transmission shop they used.

And remember it's not the miles as much as the age.

We towed a tent trailer with a Dodge Grand Caravan and when we had our automatic transmission rebuilt the 2nd time the mechanic took me to the shop to show me how small the disks in the transmission are, especially in comparison to those in a truck transmission. The old Safari vans had truck sized transmission disks and went the distance.

Oops, misread the OP’s post. A RAM van should be fine.

Even the Caravan has been sold under the "Ram" name. The key is that it is a 2500, which is the 2500-size B-van.
