We are looking at the Escape 19 and would like input on towing. We have the 3.6 v6 with towing. Rated for 6200 lbs. Currently towing a Casita 17 and getting 18 mpg. Curious what mpg you all are getting.
Welcome Doug,
To our little fiberglass world. I have always tried to concentrate on the benefits of camping and towing. With a Hemi I get around 12 mpg, towing or not! So the journey is the thrill being seeded, not conservation.

So many variables affect fuel economy when towing that "YMMV" seems the most appropriate response. Our diesel Cayenne has returned as low as 13MPG when towing into strong headwinds and in mountainous regions and over 20MPG on flat terrain with a tailwind - all at or near 70MPH. An unscientific average for the past year of towing would be between 16-19MPG for our setup.
We tow with a 3.6 Durango also. 19’ escape tows perfect with 16 mpg average and no problem at all with lack of power. been over the rockies and it never balked at a hill. Hard to keep under 70 mph on the level roads. No sway bars needed. Only change would be upgrade to maybe 10 ply load range e tires. 8 play would be more Than enough but not sure if they make them. Will do that when stock tires need to be replaced. Only with factory tow pack will this tow so well as is has a leveling system built in from the factory.
