Know what you mean, when we're in the trailer I don't use the alarm. My main concern is when we're off, especially when the trailer is in a more isolated area, I hope that the loud alarm is effective.

I got this tamper resistant kit to remove all kinds of screws that I used to encounter when I managed public facilities. I bought it at

Don't they sell PowderMilk brand biscuits there too?

Ask for the manager, Guy Noir. Tell him I sent you and you'll get the preacher's discount.

Dave, the manufacturer of your tamper resistant kit, Maga, sounds strangely familiar.

Kits

There's a tool dealer in Cedar Rapids that handles this line. I have a couple more kits with standard screwdriver tips too. We found them to be of very good quality.

Dave,
Did you have any trouble opening the tamper resistant kit? I know Amazon offers "frustration free packaging".

It was the breathalizer integrated into the case lock that sometimes gave him trouble...

Cool Operator

I've done some of my best work, in the dark, and slightly under the
Influence. Once cut a hollow grand fir with fire ( lightning strike) in the top.
59 inch bar on a gear drive Homelite Wiz 80 wouldn't cut through. Had to
" Beaver" it. 4 d cell flashlight held by a coworker. Making $2.16 an hour. And
glad to have a job. Also have three great kids. Best work in the dark, like I said.
5 below F here today with a nice breeze. I'll be inside.

Wow! Thread went from couplers to security, camel herds.....

Anyway, back to couplers:

I spoke with Escape and Proven Industries again. Tammy at Escape let me know the coupler pictured below is the one currently used on the 17, 19 and 21ft trailers as of April, 2016. It’s a generic version of the Atwood Yoke style coupler and fits a 2 inch ball.

http://www.etrailer.com/A-Frame-Trai...FQhrfgodIHcLvQ

I also spoke with Proven Industries as to which lock to use for a new Escape and they said given the picture I sent them the model 2178-A lock is the best. It fits an Atwood Yoke style coupler with a 2 inch ball exactly. The model 2516-A also fits an Atwood Yoke style coupler with a 2 5/16 inch ball…..however, the lock piece that fits into the coupler is only 2 inch. So if you use this lock on a 2 5/16 ball coupler it will be a bit loose but it doesn’t affect the security of the lock. The model 2516-A is kind of a universal lock for Atwood Yoke style couplers which explains why both lock models will fit a new Escape 17, 19 or 21ft coupler.

advenas,
Thanks for all your calling around and sharing your info here on the forum, appreciate it. Model 2178-A fits great (2'' Atwood Yoke Latch). Highway11 coupon code at the Proven Industries website gets you 5 bucks priority mail shipping.

My old My Yellow one, photo attached, gets taken out pretty fast, link here and in the Proven industries video with a pry bay. No, chains don't fit inside, I wrap mine around tight and lock them anyway.

I just received the 2156A by mistake. I actually ordered the 2178. I tried to put in on my 21 but could not get it on with the chains inside. It goes on without the chains in but not with. It looks like you did not put the chains inside. Correct?

After all the talk about the Proven Industries locks I got an email from Proven that the 2178 and 2516 are exactly the same lock and just have different names for marketing purposes.
I'm disappointed that we cannot put the chains in these locks.

Here is the note:
Model 2178A & Model 2516A are the same unit we just labeled them different for marketing purposes.
If the model does not fit your coupler, send me a couple of pictures of your coupler so that we can determine which model fits best.
If you want to talk to our rep., her name is Jill and she can be reached at 877-400-8423.
Have a great day!

Does anyone know if a single chain can fit inside? I figure if at least one can fit then the lock is worthwhile. If not, any other tips on securing the chains? Thanks!

I have not tried just one chain but I don't believe it will fit. I'll try this weekend.

We purchased a proven industries lock for our trailer coupler and I have been thinking about making the chains removable with the links that screw together. I have seen videos where trailers were stolen by hooking the chains together around the ball of a tow vehicle and driving away. A pair of bolt cutters could remove the tow chains and a lock could hook them together around a hitch. I am wondering if removing the chains when parked in a place where theft is possible wouldn't be a better idea. A couple of these where the chains attach to the trailer would work.
