I think U Haul is my best bet. Drive f150 from Iowa to Sumas Wa , put 21ne on stinger and 2" ball, pull to Bellingham U Haul and have them install a wdh.

Sounds good. I'd make myself familiar with the install instructions in case you have to keep an eye on a pimple-faced kid.

The pimple faced kid probably knows more than me. My first trailer and first pick up truck.

Ah, but you care about the result of the installation and can read the instructions and take the time to understand them, consulting with other people (such as this forum) as needed... which might not be the case for the "professional" installer.

If you already have a class III or class IV receiver on your truck (that is rated for a WDH), and order the WDH from Escape, there is nothing you have to install. The part that goes into the receiver can be set up by Escape for your truck to give the correct ball height, and the parts that attach to the trailer will be in place also. You should not have to touch a wrench.

That said, Escape set up my ball too low, and I had to touch a couple of wrenches (and a cheater bar) to set it to the correct height.

Yes class 4 hitch receiver. We turned in our build sheet a couple weeks ago. I'm sure I could add a wdh to it. I was concerned about the Fastway e2 being loud. Sounds like alot of wdh with some sway control make noise, mostly when backing up and turning.

If nothing else, you know it's still attached. Not sure why the concern about a couple creaks.

That depends how close the mic is to the WDH.

State parks in Oregon are great. Dispersed camping on the west side is pretty sparse. Camping in the Cascades is hit-or-miss until until July due to lingering patches of snow in shaded woods. July and August in Eastern Oregon can be very hot - even at elevation. There are beautiful spots all over Oregon - every area is worth visiting. If you really want to be alone, head for southeast Oregon. Fremont-Winema NF has many free campgrounds that are lightly used.

As for WDH, I don't think anti-sway is really necessary if you are loaded correctly. I don't have it. My 2017 F150 has electronic anti sway features and recommends that you turn it off if you have anti sway on your hitch because the electronic control will tend to fight it. I am happy running with only weight distribution.

good one bags ! i see one of your old threads you were gonna try not using a wdh. i did pay 1300.00 for a max tow package on a 2020 3.5 ecoboost f150 xlt. Maybe i can do the same.

Ditto. I ran my 17B ( 320 lb. tongue weight ), towed by a 2008 Toyota RAV4 V6, with Pro Series WDH from ETI, for 12 years with no hint of sway.

I think I would stay away from UHaul. I would look for a dealer that sells Curt, Eaz-Lift, Husky, Reace. They would have more experience with setup than uHaul.

There is lots of information on Youtube. YouTube channel has done some good videos for newbies, copy the next line and paste it in Youtube...

Uhaul does have a host of wdh brands. They sell more receiver hitches than anyone, in the states anyway. I think i will open up our build sheet and add one of escapes hitches to build. Will give me a piece of mind on the ride over from Iowa.

Good call Johnny, you’ll never miss the money and you will have a good long time to try various adjustments on your way back. Once you get used to hooking it up it only takes a few minutes. You can feel the towing difference in small adjustments, it takes a while but you will find the sweet spot. We had the Pro-Tow (least expensive) on our 2012 Highlander pulling the 19. On the 21 we have the Anderson ,not sure they still sell that one, but the Fastway EZ2 or whatever it is properly named has many satisfied users too. Don’t worry about the noise it makes, nobody who has a real life pays any attention in the campground.
