What size are your balls?

So first off, I know nothing but I have bought a escape 19 our first trailer ever. Upgrading from a tent trailer which has a 2" ball for the coupler.

I looked in the Towing and Hitching section here and did a couple of searches but could not find information on what size ball I need to pull an escape 19. I can call them but I thought someone here would have an quick answer.

This leads to my next question does an F150 crewcab with a trailer towing package need a weight distribution hitch, there are a few in Kijiji that look in nice shape, what should I look for in those?

Thanks for the manual! That is good stuff, ok 2" it is, I thought it might be 2 5/16ths.

So if there are some F150 Crewcab folks that are out there can you give me some feedback on whether a load distribution hitch is required?

Thanks.

I tow my 2016 21' with my F150 Lariat with 5.6' bed without weight distribution. I feel the truck handles it well. My best advice would be to try towing without and then make your decision. Oh, BTW, the F150 makes a great TV.

F-150 XLT 5.0 V-8 with factory tow package. We use a Reese 66151 WDH. Not sure if there is a significant difference in feel while towing but bringing the truck back to level from a slight nose up/tail down position sure makes a difference at night - without WDH you're likely to get a lot of high beam flashes - with a WDH those go away. I suppose you could do the same with adjustable air shocks. Reese 66151 generally takes about an extra 45 seconds to hook up so it's no hassle and it's reassuring to have the built in sway control "just in case".

Titanizer ....

What a great looking truck and trailer combo! Thanks for the feedback.

H46Driver ....

I appreciate your input as well especially with a specific WDH I searched for the 66151 and it seems perfectly capable.

We tow our 2017 21' with a 2016 F-150 crewcab 4x4, 5.5' bed, with towing package and #7,000 payload package - no utility box on the trailer tongue. Measuring at the top of the wheel wells, hitching up the trailer drops the rear about 1 1/2 inches and raises the front about 1/2 inch. We don't currently use a WDH or feel we really need one for normal travel, but I think a WDH with sway control would help take a little of the bounce and sway out of some of the poor/uneven backroads we occasionally find ourselves on. I'd love to try one before purchasing one but may just have to bite the bullet get one to see if and what improvement it might make on the rougher roadways. Dale

War Eagle ....

That's perfect, my truck is set up exactly the same as yours with a trailer towing package and the #7000 GVWR package, I see you have the FX4 package as well, same here. I have the 3.5 Ecoboost so lots of pulling power.

So I am thinking the way to go is see what it tows like coming home over the rockies and if it is dicey at all I'll fork out the money for the WDH, there seems to be a few used ones coming up on Kijiji the Canadian Buy and sell. I am not sure if you have that in the US.

Thanks.
