Which sway Hitch
We are in the process of ordering our escape 21'. We have a Ram 1500 with a 5.7 V8 and a built in brake controller. Which hitch should we order? The Equalizer hitch (Pro series 600lb Trunnion) the equalizer hitch with sway control or the E2 Fastway integrated sway control and weight distribution hitch? We now have a 17' Casita SD with sway control and we have had no problem towing this. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I tow with a Tundra and most of the time, I don't bother to hook up the bars on my Husky TS wdh.
The 21 behind a full size pickup really doesn't need a wdh or sway control. I had a Casita with sway as well and the 21 with the tandem axles is more stable than the Casita was.
I would suggest towing the trailer first and then deciding if you need a wdh or not.

That is what I was thinking. Towing the Escape should be more stable with the twin axles. Thanks, we will have a month of testing and then head to Alaska so plenty of time to decide. We appreciate the information!

I have the same truck and installed air bags in the rear coil springs to keep the squat to a minimum, works really well. No w/d hitch, just the ball.

This is one of those subjects that keeps coming up and for those with full-size tows, the main reason we use a WDH is for the improved ride- especially in wind.

A friend of mine just towed a 19 Escape from Anchorage Alaska to Chilliwak with a 2017 Tacoma with sumo springs. He had the Pro Series 600 installed at Escape. He said he noticed a vast improvement in the ride and bounce on dips. I have driven the Alaskan highway many times and one thing there are lots of is dips. The pro series hitch is fairly cheap and easy to use, why not.

We picked up our 19 last week. Pulling with my 2010 F150 4.6l V8. We opted to take the WDH.
My thinking after reading the forums was that it isn't absolutely necessary, but it will be a nicer ride.
This is our first trailer, but not the first I've pulled. A little RV pulling, but mostly bigger stuff behind a Kenworth....
I found the Drive home to be completely lacking in drama of any kind.
I have considered Air bag suspension, which will certainly level a loaded truck out, but does little to redistribute weight.
If you put the WDH in your package, I can't imagine that you would regret it.
