Alice Lake

We just returned from an enjoyable two day stay at Alice Lake Provincial Park. http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/exp...kpgs/alice_lk/

There were 55 campsites open, all with power but no water. You can fill your fresh water tank near the entrance to the park. There were only five campers there, although we were told that in the summer it is full.

The sites are quite private and well-treed which makes them shady. Alice Lake is a short walk from the campsite and there is a walk around the lake which provides views of the surrounding mountains. The town of Squamish is close by. Brandywine Falls about 20 km toward Whistler is worth the half km hike to see.

Here are a few pictures from our trip. We recommend this park.

Re: Alice Lake

It is an understatement to say that it is full in the summer. It is about the closest provincial park to Vancouver. Fellow campers can be rowdy, especially on long weekends.

Spring and fall, on the other hand....

Re: Alice Lake

In about a dozen provincial and national parks near to Calgary they have made illegal the possession of alcohol on long weekends to try and help curb the rowdiness. It is a shame they have to do that, when the majority of people are very responsible with their alcohol.

Re: Alice Lake

I agree it is too bad a few spoil it for all, but then I also don't think the Park Police will bother the family with 2 kids or the older couple sitting quietly in their campsite having a cold beer (albeit) it a plastic glass.

I think the new rule will deter a lot, but it will also chase the young rowdys to the bushes....

Re: Alice Lake

Ken, I sure hope that they would use some discretion, and really only enforce things if required, but I have heard statements on the news, and I imagine you will have too, that they are going to enforce it to the max.

And yes, I am sure the authorities will have their hands full in the Waiprous and Ghost areas again. We used to have these parties on crown land years ago, but they have since grown to astronomical proportions.
