We just returned from three nights at Bay View State Park, near Mount Vernon, WA. We have stayed here many times before, but this is the first time we have visited in the summer. Things we noticed:
1. reservations were not a problem mid week -- I had expected it would be full up
2. despite the record high temperatures it was quite pleasant here -- ocean breezes help a lot
3. there is a lot to see and do in the area -- we went to Whidbey Island (always great!) and Leavenworth (too hot in the summer!)
This was also the first time we camped with our new towing vehicle, a Toyota Highlander. It performed well, although it was not much of a challenge travelling on the coast.
The photo shows Ladybug in site #5. Here is a link to other photos from our trip: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brian_v...961836/detail/
