Bodega Bay

My wife and I (with a little help from the dog) got the 19 ready and made our first trip of the season last week. We stayed at Bodega Dunes Campground, Sonoma Coast State Beach. Nice place, well spaced sites, but getting a bit tatty, reflecting California's finances. There's lots to see and do in the area, and for the most part the weather was good. We did have one evening of substantial rain, and it was sweet being warm, comfy and dry, with the bikes and gear tucked under the awning. The local fresh seafood market is excellent, also. Spring and fall are good times to go -- clearer weather for the most part, and less busy. We're thinking of making it an annual trip.

Re: Bodega Bay

We stayed four nights, Mon.-Thurs. Reservations are for "a spot", you pick your specific site from what's available upon arrival. It wasn't very busy, and they only had the small loop of sites open. I don't know when the whole camp will open up. Lots of empty beaches nearby, we could even let the dog run free. Cool stuff a short drive away: Fort Ross SP, Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve, lots of seals at Goat Rock State Beach. And really good fresh fish on the BBQ....

Re: Bodega Bay

Did you see any Birds? Did they seem aggressive? (aka, Afred and company)
Looks like fun. We'll be out soon (I hope)

Re: Bodega Bay

Hi: Bruce Wray... Thanks for the site pic. Looks a good size but that tree reminds me of what I look like first thing in the AM.
Early season camping is great...no crowds...no lineups!!! Alf

Re: Bodega Bay

As far as the site goes, Alf, that's why I picked it! As far as the birds, the dog loves to chase 'em. Wouldn't go to Bodega Bay without her!
