We have relatives there so we try to get in when reservations allow… Cheyenne Mtn SP in CO Spgs…every site seemingly is a good one. Just pulled out of Crawford SP, nice little park with a great location to the little visited NORTH rim of the Black Canyon of Gunnison. Sadly most western lake parks are way down….

Do your research and don't enter the Lime Creek Road where this genius did (Class A or not):

Ha! My buddy didn't have a problem on that road but he did say he got in a few tight spots on some other BLM areas that made him rethink why he went there.

Check out Trujillo Meadows

We just got back from Colorado and spent a couple of delightful days at Trujillo Meadows which is just north of Chama NM.

There are 50 sites and maybe 10 were occupied on a Saturday. It felt like we were boondocking in the wilderness but with the amenities of a natl forest campground (water available and pit toilets, no electricity or water at the sites). It's about 2 miles of dirt road, but good quality and no problem for an Escape.

It's first come first serve, but I can't imagine that all sites are ever full.

There were only a few spots to pick from in this site just west of Durango: https://www.campendium.com/bay-city-gulch

I’d definitely go back here!

US-160 over Wolf Creek Pass is very scenic. But, depending on whether you're going to western NM or not, IMO there is probably no more scenic drive in CO than from Ridgway to Durango on US-550.
