Crooked River, Georgia SP

Usually our first camping spot on our winter southern getaway is Anastasia SP in St. Augustine, FL. This year we stayed at Crooked River SP in GA on the FL border for 3 days. We really liked the campground and the nearby town of St. Mary's, which has a lot to offer and a ferry to the Cumberland Island National Seashore. We have already made reservations for 2024. Met a nice couple Tony and Maureen in their Casita on the way to the FL egg rally at Suwanee Music Park to see a 21C.

I live in St Augustine and would be giddy seeing a 5.0Ta roll through town. I have one, and there is one based in Palm Coast, just south of St Augustine.

The 5.0's are in the last 2 loops, in identical positions at the end of the loop. Quite a coincidence.

Unfortunately, we are leaving Friday AM for Salt Spring Campground, Ocala NF.

Stayed at Crooked River when we 1st got our 21C, it was during one of the government shutdowns so they stopped running the ferry to Cumberland Island. What I learned from that was this is how most people that camp on the island get there, I spoke to a couple who took their kayaks instead and when they got there no one was there so they had the area to themselves. Really hard to get a camping permit there, I've told several of my friends next government shutdown lets head to Cumberland Island. Some good seafood in St Mary's, plus enjpyed the submarine museum as well.
