Our first outing this year, back in March when we were having spring

, was to Grayland State Park where we also camped last summer. Confession: both times the weather was not great, and the weather inland was excellent, but that is the unknown when going to the ocean! It was cool, windy and partially rainy this time, last summer there was a lot of fog. But both times we had weather breaks enough to enjoy the beach anyway. And there's always nearby West Port to explore.
The park itself is delightful, both times we were in sites that were quite private and close to beach trails. That part of the coast of WA is sandy open beaches, different than the rocky beaches we love 'up north' in the Olympic National Park area, but it's nice to have a change of scenery. Lots of beach grass areas, long long walks, good for kite flying. They do allow driving on the beaches in that area, which is a personal pet peeve of mine, but for the most part there was little beach traffic both times we have been there.
Will we go back? Once we were passing through there and stopped on a lovely sunny day - we'll likely go again hoping for a sunny time for camping!
There are pictures from both trips on my trailer travel web site:
