I posted on one of those threads. I joined in 2019 and used it twice, then not at all in 2020 for obvious reasons but already have plans to use it a couple of times this year! I'm hoping it will work out that I can stay at the National Quilt Museum on a trip east in June.

Leaving soon from TX to OR. Found out that HH has a place at Webb AFB (now closed) in Big Spring called Hanger 25. Small airplane museum with T-37 and T-38 trainers that were used at the base when it was operational.

For us the real kicker is that we met there 52 years ago when I was in pilot training and DW was a nurse at the base hospital. Going to be a lot of fun to go back and look around!

We use it and love it. Particularly in the shoulder seasons when everything slows down. We have only used it for less than a year now but it is high quality, helps the merchants build their business and you get away from everyone else.

Plus we love wine.

We love Harvest Host and have added the Golf Course extension to give us even more options. We have stayed at museums, wineries, golf courses, and a farm/winery. To get an idea of some of these, you can check out this YouTube video. The description has chapters outlined so you can go directly to the Harvest Host examples:

Sometimes there just isn’t a campground where you need one. Or, you need to go somewhere but are going there for a purpose other than “just camping.” Or the distance is right, but you prefer someplace other than a Walmart, a Cracker Barrel, a rest stop, etc. Since our trailers do well without hookups, HH work.

I have stayed once since purchasing the discounted annual fee. Bluebird hills cellars in oregon. The hosts & vino were lovely. They allowed us to walk our dogs in the fenced vineyard. The quarters for 2 escapes were pretty tight & right up to the tasting room. Would probably find other hosts w a little more room. But it was a nice overnite stay on way to Oregon coast.

After Report: Had a great time, met some nice people. Our 17B was the runt of the litter surrounded by big trailers and motor homes, but fit in fine. Great place to boondock.

I’ watching this closely. I am a BW host site, but if changes are made more in alignment with HH, I’ll end my membership.

Perhaps we, as FGRV owners can somehow come up with a listing of FGRVers who would constitute FGRV Boondockers Welcome. I never signed up for BDW because they put all liability on the host. If someone trips over a tree root or gets stung by a bee I didn’t want to get sued. I have two spots where I can provide water and 30 amp service, and two or three that are true boondocking sites. Had it not been for BDW’s liability provision, I would have signed up. I have allowed FGRV and Escape Owners Forum members to stay.

I have no problem hosting FGRV members. I have 2 water / electric sites and 1 electric only. Given the size of the vast majority of fgrv’s it would be easy to park almost any of them here.
