Myrtle Beach St. Pk.

This park is truly beautiful. A bird lovers paradise, we're camping in the dunes a short walk from the Atlantic. A small oasis of natural Carolinian forest in the midst of Condo row. Seems like there's one golf course per resident here... if that's your game.
Found lots of fiberglass rigs here too. A Casita, Eggcamper, Trillium, 2 Bolers and 2 Bigfoot Slide-in truck campers. We've been busy with show tours of our own. Alf

Enjoy the weather, we like Myrtle Beach also, particularly February to April before the big crowds start next month.

Hi Alf and Jim

We're off to Hope Mills very early Monday - can hardly wait to see both your trailers.

Alf - there's a Walmart in Hope Mills on North Main (Hwy 59 off of I95B) - hope to see you there sometime on Wednesday. We'll watch the forum in case there's a change or you give us a time, or if you can call - 519-215-0381 or 831-402-1862 - that's a US number

Jim - still planning to stop and see you on Monday the 7th, will call you.

Adrian

Hi Alf

Sorry we missed you! We won't be going near St. T. as we cross at Buffalo and head to close to TO before heading north to Shelburne. I'm thinking I'll try to connect with Dick in Va on our trip home. Hope you didn't get too wet!

We had rain all day long off and on from near Buffalo all the way here to Hope Mills. But a nice drive seeing the trees getting greener.

Hi: emers382... Again...sorry!!! Another couple of days of rain would have been too much to handle. We towed thru torrential TStorms on the way down to Tenn. and then had some more in The Smoky's and more in Myrtle Beach!!! 1-2" in Wilmington N.C was the exit note. The radio announcer said we wouldn't need an Ark but I didn't want to try to float an Escape either.
Sunday morning while breaking camp the retainer spring (clip) ,on the fridge door handle, broke. My thanks to Camping World in Myrtle Beach for having the part and for being open so I could get one and install it. Little things mean so much.
Again...Sorry we missed you. Alf

As you can see from this thread I didn't get the chance to meet either of you, but think Alf would be the one on the right, although I don't think he's that colourful!

After seeing the 19 and 5.0 on the way home we are still torn as to which we prefer although are leaning towards the 19. The 21 would be nice but we want a queen bed.

Hi: emers382... I'm always leaning to the left...but am decidedly red!!!
The 5.0/Frontier made great gas mileage for our entire trip. Average 19.25 miles per US. Gal. Alf

That is really great mileage , Alf. I can't get over 15, no matter what I do.

Jim: How does that compare to the mileage you get with the FJ when not towing. As I said we were leaning towards the 19, but wonder if towing the 5.0 is easier not only because it's a fiver but also manages better mileage for tug. I just watched Alf's interview from 2010 (NOW I know what you look like Alf) and beginning to think the 5.0 is the better way to go. Beth doesn't like the idea of climbing up onto the bed (we tried it with Dick's in VA) but does like the ease of getting out in the night without disturbing one another. We're really torn between them now.

I get around 20 mpg with the FJ, not towing, so it is a 25% hit. I think weight impacts your towing and I believe both models are close. But IMHO the 19' with dual axles will tow smoother and than a single axle.

Hi: cpaharley2008...Aerodynamics of the 5.0 plays a big part in the MPG's. So does the fact that at 30,000mi. the Frontier is getting broke in. The other fact is I seem to stick to 100kph/62mph and use the Interstate hwys. Just did a figure for combined city/hwy around home and it's 24.5mpg. Ya gotta love those figures. Alf

Yes, I agree, I only have 2300 miles on FJ and 11,000 on the Ram, so hopefully mine will get better. But with your numbers you are also taking a 25% hit, from 25 mpg to 20 mpg towing!!

Hi: Hokie Escape... Would have loved to share a root beer with ya'll. We'd go back to MBSP in a heartbeat. Next year were booked into an RV pk. in Ft. Myers Beach Florida for two months...Aah retirement!!! Alf
