New funding for public lands

It looks like U.S. federal lands are going to get more funding:

If you live in Colorado remember to support Senator Cory Gardner R-CO to thank him for sponsoring this bill and Sen. David Perdue [R-GA] as co-sponsor.

There were actually 54 co-sponsor to the bill and from both parties
You can find out how your Senators voted , there is a list of the roll call vote on the internet
In my State (Wisconsin) , we had one Senator voting yes and one stubborn idiot that voted no.
The Senate YES votes on this bill was bi partisan , the NO votes were not .

Wish we could get the states to do the same.

The bill was crafted by both Cory Gardner and Michael Bennett of Colorado. Cory is running for reelection so in ads is taking all the Credit. But it was bi partisan to get it passed. Good for them, now get the several hundred bills that passed the house and the Senate refuses to consider moving also in a bi partisan direction.

I agree it's a good example of how bipartisan bills should be happening. It made me feel good seeing our politicians thinking of we the people instead of politics.

It's interesting that when politicians, "public servants" actually do their jobs and serve the public good that we are surprised and happy about it. The bar is set a little low me thinks.
Good to hear that it is happening though, I wish that would also happen up here in the great white north.
Alberta is going in the opposite direction sadly.

It' funny how "bi-partisan" things get in an election year. This is good for conservation and public lands. Too bad this isn't the sentiment in non-election years too.

Smile More $$$ for America's Nat'l Parks and Public Lands

The Great American Outdoors act was just signed by President Trump- a bipartisan effort that comes at a good time for all concerned!

The act will direct up to $6.65 billion to park infrastructure and up to $3 billion for other agencies. It will also allocate $900 million to the Land and Water Conservation Fund each year and create an additional 100,000 U.S. jobs.
Funding will come from royalties from energy developments on federal lands and waters.

Will Rogers once said of Pres Harding (or Coolidge?) "He has done nothing, but that was what we hired him to do."

I sometimes think that we are better off when congress does nothing.
