Port Townsend, WA: Spruce Goose Cafe

http://sprucegoosecafe.com/

I keep suggesting 20 to 101 as an alternate route past Seattle so figured I'd mention a stop I like. Just out of Port Townsend at the Jefferson County Airport is the Spruce Goose cafe. Again, parking for car and trailer available- I've never had a problem pulling in and finding room, maybe Sunday morning would be a problem. It's a small cafe facing the runway and on the rare perfect day you can watch small planes take off and land. (I've seen that once!) The cafe is decorated in air flight memorabilia. The food is very good- I love their Bleu spruce burger. This place was suggested to me by a friend when I was trying to find a place to meet someone for lunch in Port Townsend, and since then it has been our go-to if I have the trailer.

You'll have to let us know how it stacks up against the tavern at Sutliff, or do we need to upgrade to the Lincoln Cafe?

Also near Port Townsend at the junction of Hwys 101 and 20 is Fat Smitty's. The food is better than average for a roadside cafe but the thousands of dollars pinned everywhere is the main attraction. Second pic is my son and one of the quads tacking up their contributions...

Thanks for the reminder Dave. I haven't been to Sutliff yet this summer. It's on the "to do List".

Sutliff

Thanks for the pictures.. we were there in May and had a tenderloin. A guy playing pool drove the cue all so hard it left the table and rolled into the kitchen and nobody even looked up.
They say that winery/ cidery on the way down there is pretty good to but I'm partial
To Cedar Ridge below Swisher. Good whiskey. Looking forward to camping with you and your wife.

Note that "By 1990, Jefferson County was the only designated International Airport in the contiguous 48 states without a paved runway." Great place to go for that $50 cup of coffee
