Tengo Internet privacy data breach

Received an email from this internet provider, not sure which campgrounds are involved, maybe KOA. Just a heads up

TengoInternet, Inc. ("TengoInternet") is writing to notify you of an incident that may affect the security of your personal information. TengoInternet (which also includes legacy companies Nomad Networks, Airwave Adventures, and Nexu Innovations) is a WiFi service provider serving RV Resorts, campgrounds, state parks, and other venues. You are receiving this notice because you created an account to access TengoInternet WiFi services while staying at a Sun Community or RV Resort in or prior to April of 2018. The information you provided to TengoInternet when you created that account may have been compromised. This notification provides details of the incident, what we're doing to reduce the likelihood of a future event, and resources available to help you protect your information from possible misuse. It is important that you review this information and take appropriate measures to protect your privacy.

What Happened? In April of 2018, we received communications from an anonymous individual claiming to have accessed TengoInternet's consumer database of consumer usernames and passwords for TengoInternet accounts. An investigation at that time, which included an outside forensic investigator, did not confirm a breach. On September 23, 2018, TengoInternet received additional evidence indicating that anonymous individual had, in fact, accessed our database without authorization in or prior to April 2018. While our investigation is ongoing, we have no confirmation of any actual or attempted fraudulent misuse of consumer information resulting from this incident. The anonymous individual claims to have deleted the copy of the data he or she took, but that claim cannot be verified.

What Information Was Involved? The information in our consumer database contains our consumers' names, email addresses, mailing addresses, and/or TengoInternet service usernames and passwords necessary to access the service. No payment card or other financial information for our consumers was affected, and we have no indication that any financial information was impacted by this incident.

What We Are Doing. Information privacy and security are among our highest priorities, and we take this incident seriously. Upon learning of this incident, we quickly took steps to determine how the information may have been accessed and to prevent further unauthorized access or incidents. We disabled inactive accounts and implemented a procedure to require password changes for all remaining accounts. As part of our ongoing commitment to the security of personal information in our care, we are also working to review our existing information security procedures and to implement additional safeguards to further secure the information on our systems. We have also notified federal law enforcement.

What You Can Do. Although we have no confirmation of any actual or attempted fraudulent misuse of your information, we are instructing you to promptly change the password to your TengoInternet account if you have not done so in the last 30 days. If you have not used TengoInternet's services since prior to January 1, 2017, then your account has already been disabled, and you do not need to take any action with respect to your TengoInternet account. Whether or not your TengoInternet account is active, you should change the password(s) for all other online accounts for which you use the same or similar username and password, or the same or similar email address and password. However, please also review the Steps You Can Take to Protect Your Information, below, for additional resources you may use to protect your information.

For More Information. We recognize that you may have questions and we are here to assist you. You can reach our dedicated assistance line at 1-800-637-1065 (toll free), Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., CST. You may also write to us at 3300 North Interstate Highway 35, Suite 600, Austin, TX 78705.

We sincerely regret any inconvenience this incident may cause. TengoInternet remains committed to safeguarding information in our care and will continue to take proactive steps to enhance data security.

Sincerely,

Stumberg Signature
