Trip to Anacortes and Port Townsend
We camped for four nights at Bay View State Park near Mount Vernon and made short trips to Anacortes and Port Townsend. We have been to these places many times, but the nice thing about them is: - They are close to where we live -- two hours from the BC lower mainland
- There is always something interesting to see at any time of year
- The ferry from Coupeville to Port Townsend is economical -- about $8 for car and driver!

Thanks Brian. Looks like a beautiful place. How much is the ferry when you are towing Ladybug?

We did not take our trailer to Port Townsend, just took the car, which was $8.75 for car and senior driver.
You can find all the fares for that route here:

I went from Port Townsend to Fort Casey with my truck and 5.0 this year ........ cost $55 one way for the 20 min. trip. I thought BC Ferries was expensive until that!!

My favorite trailer photo was taken at Washington Park in Anacortes:

Washington State ferries get the summer traveler by adding a surcharge from May to September. For full fair vehicle/driver it's 25% for most routes; the San Juan route surcharge is 35%. Plus the total fair is also based on total length and height. And all base rates have been steadily going up each and every year.

I made the mistake of taking the ferry with our pop up thinking it would be that much more than a car alone. Won't make that mistake again.

We stopped in Port Townsend on our way back from the NOG last week. They had rock star parking on the main street for us with our trailer, so we took advantage of the opportunity and went to the Silverwater Cafe for a really nice dinner. Pretty town to walk around
$55 for a ferry - Ha! It cost us $185 (US) to get Our Little Cottage and the two of us back to Victoria from Port Angeles. (One way - we already spent that to get over in the first place...) Big Yikes : Anyone up to having the next gathering on Vancouver Island?!!

No complaints about Washington state ferries - A round trip ticket for just my RAV4 to Nantucket Island using the MA Steamship Authority is $455.00, and, like every year, will probably go up again next year.
