There have been record rains and flash flooding throughout the great basin and Southwestern states over the last couple of weeks.

We were on Bishop Creek in the eastern Sierras (Calif.) at 8200 ft. elevation last Thursday, and had 3 inches of rain afternoon and evening. It broke an area record set in 1880. The Creek, 30 ft. away, rose a considerable amount (but didn't hurt our fishing results.)

Thanks, Greg. It was a fun and exciting trip. The best part was that my buddy and I both caught our limit in the creek 2 days in a row. Oh, what a fish fry we had!!!

Steve,
All I can say is, there are a bunch of places up and down Bishop Creek, and they're all first-come first-served, and all are filled throughout the summer. We got there on a Thursday morning right after the campground super. took down the expired tags off the site posts. Within an hour, the place was filled again.


The good thing with respect to fishing was: the creek was flowing so hard and fast that everyone but us was fishing the lakes instead. So, we endured the slings and arrows of outrageous branches and rocks, to get to the few spots on about two miles of creek to find the browns and rainbows. (Gotta do it while I'm still able to bend!)
