Battery Charging While Towing

Newbie Question: I have a solar panel on my 2016 17B and I know it charges the two batteries. My question is, does the Jeep Cherokee towing it also charge these trailer batteries while underway ?

Thanks.

It could also run your TV battery down when you're not underway if you leave the 7 pin connector attached (on most vehicles) so you want to be aware of that.

That only happens on poorly wired tow vehicles which fail to shut off the connection to the trailer connector when the engine is not running... but it's worth checking to see if the tow vehicle has that problem. Apparently, based on earlier discussions, some Ram trucks actually come with this defect.

my tacoma and both my ford trucks, the factory trailer prep included a relay that disables the battery power to the 7-pin when the engine is off. on the 2001 E150, this relay came in a baggy in the glovebox with instruction sheet on where to plug it in, and why, and also how to connect a brake controller. the tacoma and f250 were bought used, so I don't know whether they were similar or the relay was installed at the factory..
