Brake adjustment 2017 Escape 19
I have scanned the forums but haven't spotted the info I need.
Can anyone tell me which model or part number of brake hub Escape would have used in 2017?
I'm looking at manuals to be clear on the brake adjustment method, but can't see any reference to which model of brake hub they used.
I'm reasonably capable mechanically, and I expect this will be simple, but I try not be be cocky when starting on something I haven't laid hands on yet.It's good to have the info in advance.

Escape uses Dexter Torflex #9 axles, which have the same 3500-pound-capacity hubs and brakes as all other Dexter axles of this size. Specifically, they use standard greased hubs (not Nev-R-Lube) and electric drum brakes (10"x2-1/4", the only size for this capacity of Dexter hub) without the parking feature. They may be self-adjusting (Dexter's Nev-R-Adjust product; Dexter assembly K23-468-00/K23-469-00), but I don't think Escape is using those. If not self-adjusting, they are Dexter assembly K23-026-00/K23-027-00.
All of the relevant parts are shown in Dexter's light-duty axle catalog, and service is described in the light-duty electric brakes service manual.

Just did this today on my 2018 5.0TA. After jacking each wheel I used by brake adjust tool (large flat head screw driver will work) inserting in the rear slot on the back of each backing plate towards the bottom. I turned the adjusting wheel counter clock wise to tighten while turning the tire/wheel. Plenty of You Tube how too videos.
My drum brakes on the Dexter are Standard Version on 3500lb Torflex Axles and do not have Nev-R-Adjust brakes. Do not think ETI orders the axles with Nev-R-Adjust. If you had Nev-R-Adjust you would see a yellow spring through the slot on the backing plate.

The #10's are 3500 lb, and the #9's are 2000 lb. I thought the duals on my 19 were #9's, but could be wrong.

I think they have always been #10’s. Just some models have less rubber for a lower capacity rating. Brake/seal components may be the same though this could be academic.

AAK! Sorry, the brake size and part numbers that I listed are correct for the 3500 pound Dexters, which are indeed Torflex #10, not Torflex #9.

No, the #9 would not have enough capacity for even the 19' configuration... and would have smaller bearings and brakes.

Although the top photo shows a hydraulic brake (not electric), the adjuster works the same way between hydraulic and electric - it actually has the part number (043-004-00).

According to ETI pre 2017 trailers had 2500 lb Torflex axles. 2017 and later have 3500 lb. Long story on why I know this.

Yes, but they still are all #10 Torflex. The higher rated axles coincided with the higher GVWR on the newer trailers I believe.
